How It Works
Getting Warmer is a location-based puzzle game. One person creates a puzzle by dropping a pin anywhere in the world and writing a secret message. They share a QR code with someone else, who then takes distance measurements from wherever they are — each one draws a circle on the map. The smaller the circle, the closer they are.

How do I create a puzzle?
Tap Create Puzzle on the home screen. Give your puzzle a name, search for a location or tap the map to place a pin, write a secret message, and tap Generate QR Code. Share the QR code with whoever you want to solve it.
How does someone solve a puzzle?
They tap Scan Puzzle and scan your QR code. From there they tap Measure Distance from different locations — each measurement draws a circle centred on where they are. When the circles overlap, that's where the target is. Get close enough and the secret message unlocks.
Can I add multiple stops to one puzzle?
Yes. When creating a puzzle, tap Add Stop to add as many locations as you like, each with its own secret message. The solver completes them in order, or you can let them tackle all stops at once using the map toggle in the game view.
How do I share a puzzle I've already created?
Go to My Puzzles, swipe right on any puzzle, and tap Share. This shows the QR code which you can send via Messages, AirDrop, or save to your camera roll.
The app says it can't find my location. What do I do?
Getting Warmer needs location access to measure distances. Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Getting Warmer and set it to While Using the App.
How accurate are the distance measurements?
Very accurate — the app uses a geodesic formula that accounts for the curvature of the Earth, accurate to within a few centimetres. Your GPS accuracy (shown as the ± value in the app) is the main variable. A lower ± value means a more reliable measurement.
Do I need an account?
No. Getting Warmer has no accounts, no sign-up, and no server. Everything is stored on your device.
Can I delete a puzzle?
Yes. In My Puzzles, swipe left on any puzzle and tap Delete.
